about
Co-wrote this in 1990 with Paul Selph, a wonderfully creative gentleman who's gone to that great jam session in the sky.We wrote many songs for recovery plays performed with Recovery Repertory Theater in Memphis, TN.
Strong young trees with branches high, bearing gifts of Spring
But no hand is reaching up, to take their offering
Strawberries from fertile earth, the vines are filled with grapes
Gently soaked then sunshine dried, for the finest taste
Chorus
Love will come, love will grow, love will be forgotten
Sweetness of the air has gone, from the pleasure garden
There a child runs once again, smiling happily
Dropping seeds of tenderness in rows of memories
Fading into what has been, the past insists he go
Never to return again, and reap what he has sewn (Chorus)
Leave me now to count the years, the dying lover said
Somewhere in another heart, I’ll live, I’ll love again
Strong young trees will shelter me, grapes will fill the vines
We will call each day complete, life itself quite kind, (Chorus)
